How to split a sprite sheet
Choose a PNG, JPG or WebP sheet, then enter its column and row counts. The image dimensions must divide evenly: a 512 × 256 image with 8 columns and 4 rows produces 32 frames, each 64 × 64 pixels. Select Split, inspect the animation, then download individual PNG frames.
Does this upload my images?
No. Importing, packing, trimming, preview and export all run in your browser. No account is needed for these tools. Download your work before closing or reloading the page; the workspace is not saved. The separate AI sprite generator, when available, sends prompts to Kie.
Which export should I use?
PNG contains the image. JSON lists each frame's rectangle, trim offset and original size. CSS gives one background-position rule per frame. Download the PNG alongside its metadata. JSON is this tool's atlas map; check your engine's expected format before importing. The animation preview does not export GIF or video.
Why are the extracted frames misaligned?
This splitter reads equal-sized cells from left to right, then top to bottom. It does not detect character outlines, remove sheet margins or follow packed-atlas metadata. Check the row and column counts and whether the source includes borders. A tightly packed atlas needs its coordinate map rather than a uniform grid.
How do I keep a transparent background?
Start with PNG or WebP frames that already contain transparency. PNG export preserves it, while trimming only removes transparent outer edges. Importing a JPG or exporting it as PNG does not remove its background. Padding adds space between frames; it does not extrude edge pixels.
Need to repack your frames?
Download the extracted frames, then open the sprite sheet maker to reorder them and build a new texture with PNG, JSON and CSS exports. Both tools run locally and support up to 256 frames per workspace.
